Workshop to help build pollinator-friendly gardens

Gardeners have an opportunity to be stewards of the natural world, and an informal event planned for Eau Claire will show how easy it can be to create beads that attract a variety of pollinators.

The staff members at Tin Roof Garden, which is a family run small business, want to share their knowledge with the public, and the upcoming Pollinator Friendly Gardening session will introduce some of the principles of gardening for wildlife. There is no charge to attend the function, and it will last for one hour.

The class will discuss how, while bees and butterflies may be well known pollinators, beetles, birds and even night Flyers like bats and moths can also play an important role. Plant selection will be reviewed, and the benefits of choosing native species whenever possible is on the agenda as well. The function will wrap up with details about the issues that may result from the use of invasive plants.

The listing for the occasion notes that each attendee will go home with a packet of information and Promotional Products so they can keep on learning. Everyone who feels the activity could be helpful to them is encouraged to take part.

This introduction to pollinator friendly gardening will be on offer in Eau Claire on Saturday, May 21, at 5310 Friedeck Road.
