Exploring a winter forest by candlelight can be a magical experience, and the participants in an Eau Claire area walk will enjoy this firsthand.
Early December will see a Moonlight Hike take to the trails at Beaver Creek, and the check in station for the day will be set up at the Wise Nature Center. All ages are welcome to take part, although anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult.
The trail will be illuminated by candle luminaries, and at the end of the path, everyone can gather around a roaring campfire and warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. The participants can walk the one-mile route as often as they wish, and snowshoes will be available to rent for $3 a pair if needed. Walk-ins will be welcome, but stormy weather may cancel the gathering.
A night hike provides an opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet of a winter woodland in a safe way. Signage may help to ensure a function runs smoothly, and it can be prepared by area Print shops and made suitable for outdoor use.
Those who would like to be part of this magical experience are asked to arrive no earlier than 5:50 pm on Friday, December 5, ready for a 6:00 pm start. The organizers can be contacted through email at bcr@beavercreekreserve.org.
