Eau Claire to hold marathon challenge in September

The Eau Claire Marathon will return next month. This year’s event will be conducted in person after last year's event switched to a virtual format due to the pandemic.

This year’s marathon will feature a redesigned course, and most of this new course will take place riverside. With this course redesign, organizers hope that the beauty of the river will inspire both runners and spectators alike. Runners will be able to traverse this course individually or as a four-person team. Spread along the course are drink stations to help competitors keep hydrated. Cash prizes will be given out to top male and female runners.

For those looking for an alternative race option, organizers have also prepared a half marathon and 5K run or walk. Both these options will start at a later time. Regardless of which option is selected, all runners will receive a packet before the race. These packets will have items like commemorative clothing, which usually feature a unique graphic design made specifically for the race.

The marathon will begin on September 26 at 7:00 am. The half marathon and 5K run will start at 8:15 AM and 9:15 AM respectively. Runners can sign up online; tickets are priced according to the block for which participants register. The location of the course is Phoenix Park at 330 Riverfront Terrace.
