A workshop on how to help birds find food even in the heart of winter is on offer for Eau Claire kids, and they will be able to take their finished feeder home with them.
Peanut butter and seeds can be valuable sources of fat and energy for hungry winter birds, and the pine cone bird feeders the kids will construct will use both these materials. Parents and caregivers can lend a hand too..
The seeds, pine cone, peanut butter and other materials needed to prepare these mini bird feeders will be supplied, and once they are ready, they can be easily hung up in a tree or other location. They can attract finches, chickadees, crossbills, and other seed eaters, and blue jays often find them especially tempting.
The cost to participate in this hands on activity is $3, and everyone is welcome. Equipping the families who take on this sort project of with basic instruction sheets can help them to keep on learning. These sorts of items can be obtained from a printing services company in the area.
Down to Earth Garden Center has invited all area families to take part in this simple introduction to environmental stewardship. It will be offered each Saturday up until January 25. More information on the Center is available on its website.
