Eau Claire invited to find out about frogs

Spring is in the air in Eau Claire, and a family-friendly activity will be introducing the public to some amphibians that get their chorus going after the sun has gone down.

Beaver Creek Reserve has organized an evening frog walk, and it will provide a chance to learn about these creatures up close. It will provide tips for identifying different species by sight and sound, and both members and non-members may take part.

During the outing, participants will be on the hunt for some of the 12 species of frogs that call the state home. The walk will be held rain or shine, and everyone will learn how to recognize frogs’ calls. Everyone is advised to wear good walking shoes and bring a flashlight if they have one. Financial support for the outing has been provided by Leinenkugel’s.

An organized nature activity may give all ages the chance to learn about the world around them. Basic field guides can be prepared by Stationery printers, utilizing comb binding and other techniques to put them together.

The team at Beaver Creek Reserve will be showcasing the frogs that call Wisconsin home on Tuesday, April 16. It will begin at 6:30 pm at S1 County Rd K, and admission starts at $5 each for members and $10 for the general public. Walk-ins are welcome.
