Annual jazz festival will go online this year

This year’s Eau Claire Jazz Festival will shift towards a virtual format due to the pandemic situation. Residents are welcome to attend and listen to performances given by professionals and students.

The festival was established in 1967 and gave opportunities to local, national, and international performers to display their musical work. The festival is also entirely student-ran, with its board members all hailing from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.

Performances will take place on the festival’s “A Night with Local Legends,” where professionals and students will showcase their musical talents. The night will include performances by renowned local artists and the university’s Grammy-nominated Jazz I band.

Organizers have also prepared “Student Sessions,” which are educational packages for music teachers and students. The package will include pre-recorded lessons and performances from renowned artists and professional assessments for musical submissions. For an additional fee, the organizers are also giving song-writing assistance to teachers and students. These events are often supported with brochure printing, which provides more in-depth information on the program.

The performance will happen on April 23, and submissions for the education package must be done by April 16. The packages have a base cost of $150, and additional fees will be added for any extra services purchased. Those with questions can send an email to info@eauclaurejazz.com.
