The 14th annual Sustainable Ballard Festival is taking place next month in Seattle, presented by Sustainable Ballard. This year’s theme is ‘certified local’.
The aim of the festival is to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. This includes emphasizing the importance of buying local foods and other merchandise to maximize freshness and cut down on the carbon footprint.
Guests will have the opportunity to press apple cider and build their own birdhouse using recycled materials, while children will also be able to make their own bubble wands. There will be a petting zoo of farm animals, workshops on topics such as acupuncture and biking, electric car displays, and the chance to test drive an electric bike.
There will be carnival cutouts that people can pose behind for pictures, along with food and beverage carts and a tea garden. There will also be live musical entertainment during the day.
This free festival will likely attract a number of Seattle residents to the Ballard area for the afternoon. Organizers are sure to have distributed Flyers and other printed advertisement in the community to market the event.
The Sustainable Ballard Festival will be held at Ballard Commons Park on September 9 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is free of charges. For the most current information about the festival, contact Jenny Heins at 206-384-0053.
