Seattle sheep to get springtime shear
Spring has arrived, and that means the sheep at a Seattle area community farm are due for their seasonal trim.
The public is invited to pay a visit to Kelsey Creek Farm to enjoy a special educational experience. They will be taking part in a day that explores where wool-based textiles come from, and there will be activities on offer.
The attendees will be able to watch the farm’s sheep be sheared of their winter coats, and there will also be demonstrations of spinning and other fiber arts. Everyone can view the baby animals and their parents, and tractor-pulled wagon rides, food trucks, pony rides, and special activities just for the kids are all on the agenda. Service animals are welcome, but a request has been made for pets to be left at home. Advance registration is not required.
Agricultural-themed events give the public a chance to learn more about where their food and clothing comes from, and they can also be fun for young attendees. Banner printing and other marketing services will be on offer at a local printer, which will be able to work with a variety of budgets.
This celebration of spring’s arrival in Seattle will be giving sheep their seasonal haircuts this Saturday, April 30. The function will run from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.
