Seattle boasts a climate conducive to growing a wide assortment of plants, and a local organization wants to help area residents make the most of their plots.
A workshop planned by RainWise, which is a group that helps local property owners prevent environmental damage due to runoff, will give those who register a chance to brush up on their horticultural skills. A variety of experts will share their knowledge, and registration is free.
At the end of the activity, the participants will walk away with a greater understanding of how they can reduce runoff after heavy rain, and the value of composting will also be discussed. They will be taken on a tour of a rain garden and also a cistern so they can see them in action first hand, and sources of funding for these upgrades will be shared. Contractors and homeowners who work with RainWise will join the conversation as well.
When an organization prepares for a special event like this, it may be a good idea to reach out to a local printing services company ahead of time. It will be able to supply a large variety of learning materials as well as Promotional Products and other swag to hand out.
RainWise will be hosting this information session on March 12. It will start at 10:00 pm at 6615 Dayton Avenue North in Seattle.
