What's Happening in Seattle, WA…

Nordic knitting takes top billing at Seattle conference

The 2014 Nordic Knitting Conference is taking place over three days this October in Seattle.

The headliners for this year's conference are Arne and Carlos, Scandinavian owners of a clothing company and pattern publisher. The pair will be talking about finding inspiration in knitting projects.

The conference is offering dozens of workshops taught by six instructors, including Laura Ricketts. Many of the workshops have already been completely booked and have waiting lists. Some of the topics being covered include Lapland hand garments, knitted dolls, and finishing. Those taking workshops can also purchase boxed lunches for $12 each. There will also be a marketplace selling knitting and spinning supplies and accessories.

Vendors who plan to sell their items at the marketplace might decide to invest in promotional items to hand out to their customers. These can be obtained from Seattle printing services companies for a reasonable price and can include postcards, fridge magnets, and reusable tote bags.

The kick off for this year's festival is the Saturday Night Banquet, which is planned for September 21 and will feature Arne and Carlos. Tickets for this are $55 each.

The Nordic Knitting Conference itself will be held at the Nordic Heritage Museum from October 3 to 5. Contact Jeremy Ehlich at 206-789-5707 x37 to find out more about the event and the offered workshops.
