What's Happening in Seattle, WA…

Eleventh heaven for Seattle cat event

The 11th annual Average Joe Cat Show is taking place this May in Seattle, making for a fundraising event for Purrfect Pals.

The show is open to (as the title suggests) average cats, meaning that pedigrees are not necessary to compete. Cats will win awards based on such factors as their ear hair and the volume of their purr. In advance of the show, there is an online photography contest. The public will choose the winners of ‘Best cat in the box’ or ‘Guiltiest looking Cat’. Oskar the blind Cat will also make a guest appearance along with Klaus, and they expected to be giving out toys and other freebies.

In addition, several local vendors will be selling a variety of cat-related products and services. Food will also be available for purchase. Several shelters from the Puget Sound area will also be on hand to showcase cats that can be adopted during the show.

Purrfect Pals is a non-profit, no-kill shelter and sanctuary, and 100% of the profits from the show will go to support the organization. This annual show is widely publicized in the Seattle area. Products such as flyers and posters, often obtained from local printing companies, are one of the most popular and effective forms on advertising such events.

The Average Joe Cat Show is being held at the Spartan Recreation Center on May 10 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Admission is $5 per person or $12 for a family. For more information, contact Connie Gabelein at 360-652-9611.
