Spicy fun coming to Kent
A festival that celebrates a city synonymous with food and fun is planned in Kent.
Cajun Fest 2024 brings Louisiana soul and the warmth of the south to the Pacific Northwest. Historic Downtown Kent will become a “Little Louisiana” where people can dine and dance together.
New Orleans and the State of Louisiana are known for the music and food found there. Some of that culture, including Zydeco and Cajun bands, as well as food trucks, vendors, artists, a beer and wine garden, and children’s activities, will be found in Kent for a short time.
The food trucks attending thus far include Dirty Cajun Balls, Home Bites, Puddin’ Cakes, Jerk an Tingz, Al’s Sausage, Where ya at Matt, The Man BBQ, Po Boys n Tings, Creole Soul, and All City Ice Cream. Po Boys n Tings sells oyster po boys and catfish po boys, as well as traditional Cajun sandwiches. The oddly named Dirty Cajun Balls serves balls, links, and sandwiches made with Boudin sausage.
Live entertainment includes local Zydeco bands, and other outfits including Swamp Thang, Lady A, America’s First Corp Band, and Bayou Envie. Swamp Thang is the first band to play, starting at 2.00 pm. Most performances last less than an hour.
The free event is scheduled for August 17, from 2.00 pm until 7.00 pm, at Burlington Green Park in downtown Kent. Organizers of events like this will often use banner printing to create themed decorations.
