Indian-American artist to perform in Kent
A singer/songwriter and playback singer is on the way to Kent.
Jasmine Sandlas is a native of Jalandhar, India, who was raised in Stockton, California. She began singing when she was a youngster, took part in vocal competitions while she was in school, influenced by Punjabi folk singers. After she relocated to California with her family, she was further influenced by the West Coast sound and began writing songs when she was 16.
Sandlas has an extensive catalog comprising albums, singles, and film work. She made her recording debut with her 2008 album “The Diamond.” The album was a worldwide success, and the track “Muskan” was also a hit. Sony Music Company launched her second album, “Gulabi,” in 2012, and in 2014, she branched out and began her career as a Bollywood playback singer.
Bollywood films are unique, dramatic, and colorful and incorporate musical numbers. However, the songs are not filmed on set; the actors lip-sync on screen, but playback singers provide the voices.
Sandlas’s first playback song was “Yaar Na Miley,” heard in the film “Kick.” The song took off and became a chart-topping hit. In 2024, she sang “Taras” for the film “Munjya,” and in 2025, sang “Nasha” for the film “Raid-2.” She won the Screen Award for Best Female Playback, presented by Screen India.
Sandlas will bring her “Gulabi Tour” to the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent on November 2. Events like this can benefit when organizers use poster printing to create publicity for them.
