Race toward Christmas is on in Kent
The holiday season brings a popular event to Kent—a 5K/10K race.
This is the 40th year for the Christmas Rush Fun Run and Walk, which will be held in Hogan Park. Since there are tight quarters at the start, everyone must follow race organizers’ instructions.
The 10K will be an out-and-back, certified contest that starts on Russell Road, then heads south and west to Meeker. Runners will cross the bridge and go to the turnaround point near 212. They will then recross the pedestrian bridge and go left onto a trail that leads to the finish. Runners are urged to remember the course is clockwise and stay to the left.
The 5K is also being run clockwise, and is an out-and-back. Runners begin at Russell Road and go to Meeker, where they will turn right and cross the bridge. Then they will go north on Frager Road to the turnaround point, and come back, remembering to stay left. Runners will turn left and cross the footbridge to the golf course, then turn north to follow the riverside trail. The finish line is on 240th Street. Organizers of events like these can use banner printing to create signage for use on outdoor courses.
Race day is December 10, which is a Saturday. The 10K starts at 9:50 am and the 5K at 10:00 am. Strollers are welcome, though anyone with a stroller is asked to position themselves carefully. Furry companions, however, are not allowed.
