Kent to celebrate nerdiness
The Kent Downtown Partnership is planning a big event to celebrate nerd culture.
The city is filled with diverse culture, and being a nerd means being creative, smart, and unique. Businesses that tout being “cool nerds” are about to show how fun it is. The Meeker Street Nerd Party will offer fun, laughter, and much activity.
The small businesses located on W. Meeker between 2nd and 4th Ave will be participating in the upcoming event. Craftmakers, artists, books, toys, and games will all be available. Authors who specialize in science fiction, horror, and fantasy will be featured at the party as well.
A Retro Emporium will offer vintage collectibles from the ‘80s and ‘90s. Big Wu Fitness will host SeaLUG Lego brick masters. Displays of Lego creations will be on display showing the hundreds of hours that went into making them.
Sweet Themes Bakery will tempt the taste buds with treats that host a nerdy theme. A cosplay costume contest will be a highlight of the event.
