Kent residents urged to take unique waste to recycling drop-off
Acoustic ceiling tiles, old stoves, batteries, and old tires are just some of the hard-to-recycle items Kent residents can soon recycle without taking them to the landfill.
The Kent Residential Recycling Event is a one-day opportunity for residents to drop-off materials not picked up at the curb by the city recycling trucks. A list of accepted items is available on the City of Kent website.
The program consists of three drop-off events throughout the year, and is funded by the Washington State Department of Ecology, the Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County, the King County Solid Waste Division, and the City of Kent Public Works Department. Only residents of King County can participate.
City events such as this one can use banner printing at the event site, and brochure printing to raise awareness of various recycling efforts and correct procedures.
If residents cannot make it to the event, King County has a helpful website that connects them with old appliances, furniture, or home renovation materials with businesses that will accept them and recycle them.
The Kent Residential Recycling Event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 17 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Hogan Park, 24400 Russell Road. No vehicles will be allowed to enter after 3:00 pm and commercial loads will not be accepted. Residents are asked to stay in their vehicles until it is their turn.
