Kent performing arts center to feature iconic performer

The Kent-Meridian Performing Arts Center in Kent, Washington will have Peter Yarrow visit as a performer in January.

An Evening with Peter Yarrow is an event sponsored through the Kent Parks Foundation and by the Curran Law Firm. The solo performance will cover many of Yarrow’s previous songs from his band Peter, Paul, and Mary, featuring well-known hits such as ‘Puff, the Magic Dragon’, ‘Day is Done’, and ‘The Great Mandala’. The show has been performed at multiple venues around the United States over the past year, including the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, and the Hopkins Center for the Arts.

Yarrow has won multiple Grammys and sold many gold and platinum albums with his group, but is also known for his activism. Yarrow helped create Operation Respect and the Don’t Laugh at Me (DLAM) programs, both of which dealt with handling and stopping bullying from occurring in schools. The DLAM program, with the help of printing services, distributed over 145,000 copies of its curriculum to schools nationwide.

The performance will be held on January 19th and begins at 7:30 pm. Ticket prices will start at $28 for general admission, $25 for seniors, and $15 for children. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets for An Evening with Peter Yarrow can do so online from Kent’s official website. Further questions regarding ticketing can be answered by calling the center directly at 253-856-5050.
