What's Happening in Kent, WA…

Kent Christmas Rush set to return

While many Kent residents may be rushing through malls and parking lots doing their Christmas shopping in December, hundreds of runners will be taking to the streets in the name of fitness and fun.

The Kent Christmas Rush Fun Run and Walk is an annual event organized by The City of Kent Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. The event consists of a five kilometer and 10-kilometer race.

Registration is $15, or $30 with a shirt. Basic registration goes up to $25 after December 4.

Last year’s race was won by Dominic Deady, 19, of Enumclaw, WA who completed the 10k run in just over 17 minutes on a rainy morning.

The first 400 children to sign up get to run for free, courtesy of Tab Wizard. Pets are not allowed; however, child strollers are permitted.

Volunteers are always needed for the event to hand out water and gift bags, marshal the course and work the mile split.

Race events often require banner printing for the start and finish lines, as well as for promotional and sponsor material.

The Kent Christmas Rush Fun Run and Walk is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 12 at Hogan Park at Russell Road. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The 10k race will begin at 9:50am and the 5k race at 10am.
