Kent celebrates fall with Street of Treats Festival
Kent residents are invited to make the most of the season and take to the streets for treats, reptiles, and games at the city's annual Street of Treats Autumn Festival.
The Downtown Kent Partnership is organizing the day. Although it is not exactly a Halloween event, attendees are urged to dress up, and a costume contest is part of the festivities.
Scott Petersen, a.k.a. The Reptile Man, will be on hand with his fascinating show featuring about a dozen reptiles from all over the world. The zoologist and author performs a 45-minute educational show where guests are invited to touch and hold some scaly creatures. Attendees can even take a selfie with an iguana.
Various stores and businesses participating in the event will hand out treats to guests. Organizers say attendees should bring their own treat bags. The event is free to the public and will go ahead despite the weather. There will be games for children to play, and areas for arts and crafts and face painting.
Events like these are great opportunities for local sponsors and businesses to use printing services to distribute informational brochures and business cards.
The event helps out the Kent Food Bank, with attendees encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to donate. The Kent Food Bank gives food and clothing to families living within the boundaries of the Kent School District. Their most-needed items include canned goods such as fruit, vegetables, and meats.
The City of Kent Street of Treats Autumn Festival takes place on Saturday, October 26 between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm at 2nd Ave. S. and W. Meeker Street in Kent.
