What's Happening in Kent, WA…

Kent catches unique take on Beach Boys classic

A unique musical experience will roll into Kent when the Seattle Rock Orchestra performs a classic American album from the 1960s.

The Seattle Rock Orchestra has become known for covering iconic rock albums backed by an orchestra of strings, percussion, woodwinds, and brass.

Besides Pink Floyd's ‘Dark Side of the Moon’, Led Zeppelin's first and second albums, and the Beatles ‘Rubber Soul’ and ‘Revolver’, the band also covers the perennial 1966 classic album by The Beach Boys, ‘Pet Sounds’, which will be performed in Kent.

Besides the backing of a full orchestra, this version of Pet Sounds also features an all-female vocal cast. Plus, the orchestra will play some Beach Boys hits not on the album, such as ‘Good Vibrations’ or ‘California Girls’?

Regular admission tickets are $28. Seniors are $25, and youth is $15.

The performance is coming to Kent thanks in large part to the sponsorship of two local families: the family of Pete and Pat Curran and the Haffner family.

Performances like these can benefit from using local print shops to provide audience members with programs and banners for the venue. Sponsors can also receive recognition through signs and banners.

The Seattle Rock Orchestra performs The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds on Saturday, February 8 at 7:30 pm, at the Kentwood Performing Arts Center.
