Festival returns to honor the Nordic culture
The 2nd annual Vesterdalen Nordic Fest is taking place this May in Auburn, hosted by the Sons of Norway Vesterdalen Lodge.
The event is set to feature a bake sale, arts and crafts for purchase, cooking demonstrations, and a demonstration of rose painting. Vendors will be selling a variety of Nordic-inspired merchandise such as clothing and handmade jewelry.
Food will be available for sampling, including traditional Norwegian fare such as lefse (flatbread), rømmegrøt (porridge with sour cream), and fattigman (fried cookies). There will also be traditional crafts displays, genealogical information for those wanting to find out more about their Nordic ancestors, and musical entertainment. All of the booths will be manned by Lodge members.
The children's corner will keep the kids entertained with games, entertainment, and other activities.
The festival will probably attract visitors from all over the area, such as nearby Kent, who are interested in celebrating the Nordic culture. To help spread the word, local printing companies might be asked to provide advertising materials like booklets and flyers. These items can be distributed quickly and inexpensively and will encourage more people to attend.
The Vesterdalen Nordic Fest will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church on May 30 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Admission is free. To find out more about this event, contact Andy Wangstad at 253-631-2321.
