What's Happening in Kent, WA…

Downtown Kent dives into the summer

The Kent Cornucopia Days festival is taking place next month for three days.

A presentation of the Kent Lions Club, the festival promises a weekend filled with activities that are sure to please the entire family. There will be a street fair featuring two food courts, vendors selling arts and crafts and commercial merchandise, and a beer garden. There will also be two stages presenting such musical acts as Jack Dolby, Groove Kitchen and the Aquanets. In addition, martial arts demonstrations, dance performances such as belly and square dancing, and the crowning of Miss Cornucopia Days will all be on the itinerary.

There will be several sports-related events too, such as dragon boat races on Lake Meridian, a 5K and a youth soccer tournament. New this year is a car show hosted by the Maple Valley Street Rats Car Club open to models from 1980 and earlier.

The grand parade is set to take place on the last day of the festival beginning at 2:00 PM. This year’s theme is ‘Memories, Moments and More’. Local children are being encouraged to decorate their bicycles to take part.

Kent flyer printing shops often provide the advertising for events like this one.

Kent Cornucopia Days will be held downtown at Meeker and Gowe from July 13 to 15. Admission is free of charge. For more information, call 253-852-5466.
