Annual expo promotes environmentally responsible living
The 8th annual South Sound Sustainability Expo is returning to the area next month, featuring an array of local businesses and organizations that promote the environment, social sustainability, and living economically.
In keeping with the theme, several local farmers will sell their produce at a market. The event will feature workshops on topics such as gardening and LED lighting, a Kids' Corner with lots of fun activities, and an area in which guests can swap books, music, and movies.
Visitors are also encouraged to bring a T-shirt, bag, or other items to be screen printed for free. T-shirts will also be available for purchase. In addition, there will be a draw for a 265-gallon rainwater harvesting tank valued at $800.
Sponsorships can be purchased for $250 to $2,000, and community organizations dedicated to the environment will most likely be handing out printed materials to those who are visiting from all over the area, including Kent, who stop by their booths. They can comfortably hire local print companies to provide them, since most of them are already following environmentally sound principles.
The South Sound Sustainability Expo is being held at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center on March 7 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Admission is free. Contact Kristi Lynett at 253-591-5571 to learn more about this event or become a sponsor.
