Chehalis 5K to raise mental health awareness

Runners in the Chehalis area will want to save the date of an upcoming 5K, which aims to promote mental health awareness in the community and raise funds for the cause.

The Drew North Mental Health & Suicide Awareness 5K will be held in Chehalis this September, and community members and area runners are invited to register and further the cause. Participants will get to play a part in moving toward hope and healing, bringing Chehalis closer together with each step.

The run will not be timed, so participants are encouraged to go at the pace at which they are comfortable, which can include walking or jogging. Parking will be available at the host site, though it is expected to fill quickly. Banner printing can add to running events and fundraisers like this by spreading the message to passersby while also serving as a finish line.

Participants are welcome to bring their canine companions, with organizers providing doggy Bags for any necessary cleanup during the 5K. All dogs must remain leashed. Children are also welcome, with carriers and strollers allowed on the course.

The 5K run will start at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 26. It will be hosted by Thorbeckes Athletic Center on Southwest Avenue in Chehalis. Registration is open online for $25 for general admission and $50 for family admission.
