Blueberry care workshop educates Chehalis gardeners

A unique and immersive learning opportunity is coming to Chehalis this March, offering experienced gardeners and aspiring green thumbs the chance to learn more about blueberry care.

The Blueberry Care workshop, which is being organized by the Master Gardener Foundation of Lewis County, has announced the date on which interested parties can learn the essentials of blueberry bush care. The course will provide students with tips and information to enjoy healthier and happier bushes at home, leading to tastier homegrown blueberries.

The learning session is open to all interested parties, regardless of experience level, but is tailored toward beginners. Julie Pirtle will lead the workshop through both demonstrations and hands-on learning experiences. Organizers who wish to raise awareness of such events can use flyer printing and grassroots marketing to generate impressions throughout a town.

Students who attend will learn how they can create the right balance in acidic soil for blueberry bushes to thrive. They will also see and learn the seasonal care techniques that promote stronger growth and larger berry harvests. Pirtle will share information on some of the common pests and issues blueberry bushes face and how to overcome them.

The workshop will be held at 350 Washington Avenue SE in Chehalis on Saturday, March 14, at 10:00 AM. Interested parties must pre-register three to four days in advance. Registration is open online.
