What's Happening in Tomball, TX…

Two new schools open in Tomball

The new Tomball High School Ag Science Project Center and the Grand Oaks Elementary School are now open for students.

The openings of such important schools are often made known throughout the community with poster printing.

Principal of VLK Architects, Rayce Boyter, said the new high school will serve students who have technical and career interest in the industries of fiber, food, and natural resources. He added that along with production agriculture, students will receive an education in business, science, and technology.

The building, which cost $4.9m to construct, has a nature trail, two classrooms that open onto an outside courtyard, and a pond for learning outdoors. There is also a covered area for exercise and practice, as well as pens for poultry, hogs, lamb, and cattle.

Grand Oaks is the 11th elementary school in the district and the first school in the Elmer and Dorothy Beckendorf Educational Complex. It spans 112,000 square feet and will accommodate 900 students in grades kindergarten through four. It is near the district stadium and community center, and also Grand Lakes Junior High School.

Superintendent of the school district, Martha Salazar-Zamora, said that this is an exciting time for Tomball, adding that the opening of these new schools is a testament that people not only want to remain in the city, but see it as a destination for excellence in education.
