The new technological addition to the force is called a FARO Focus System. The machine is able to create a digital reconstruction of traffic accidents using images. The machine puts the images together and produces a virtual reality scene of the accident using special software. The device is likely to feature the brand’s Logo Design on it.
Officer Chad Moore feels that the device will make a big difference when it comes to investigating crashes. He expressed his delight at department’s new purchase when he said:
“The biggest point is that it’s going to help clear the roadway a lot sooner and help reduce the chance of crashes in the backup. The other end of it is that the machine will be able to capture so many points that we’ll be able to reconstruct the crash and give a presentation to the court with a lot more detail.”
The scanner is shaped like a letter U placed on a tripod. When it turns on, a soft sound can be heard and a small mirror in the middle of the machine begins to rotate. The machine then uses a laser to scan the accident area. The scanner collects every tiny detail of the crash scene including skid marks, car damage, and traffic signals.
