The City of Richardson will host its annual Corporate Challenge Softball Tournament at the Huffhines Softball Complex this September.
The event is designed with a co-ed team structure; the tournament requires each roster to include 10 players—five men and five women—though teams are permitted to field additional female players if desired.
The competition will follow a pool play format. Team rosters must be submitted no later than September 12, and participants must check in no less than 30 minutes before game time and present valid identification. Uniform regulations include matching team shirts with six-inch numbers on the back, and footwear is restricted to rubber cleats or athletic footwear.
Governed primarily by USSSA softball rules, the tournament includes specific modifications. Games are limited to 50 minutes, and run rules are enforced at various thresholds (15 runs after three innings, 10 after five). Batting orders must alternate by gender, and any male batter who receives a walk allows the subsequent female batter the option to walk or hit.
All groups must bring proof of reservation to each session. Teams that complete their schedule without forfeits will earn 30 points for participation, and medals will be given to a maximum of 18 players per team.
Organizers may be interested in making more corporate-style businesses aware of events such as this one, and may use flyer printing to advertise.
The tournament will be held at Huffhines Softball Complex, 1500 Apollo Road, Richardson, from September 19 to 21. Registration and practice information can be accessed through the event listing.
