A five-story apartment complex is in the planning stages in the southern area of Richardson.
The project is expected to be completed in 2026. The Richardson City Council met and unanimously approved a special permit for the construction of the apartment complex, which will be located at 1001 S. Sherman St. Graphic design is a tool that could be used to illustrate what the finished project will look like.
The project is led by developer and property owner Sammy Jibrin, who noted that the development of the project was overdue, so he was excited that it had been given the green light.
Jibrin further stated that it will take approximately seven months to put the finishing touches on the plans before they can break ground on the apartment complex. The construction timeline is projected to last slightly over a year, with the complex expected to open in the first few months of 2026. The building will consist of 215 units made up of 182 one-bedroom units and 33 two-bedroom units.
As part of the requirements to get the special permit, the apartment complex will feature a parking garage with four levels. It will provide 254 spaces for parking, ensuring at least one parking spot for every bedroom in the complex. Jibrin also mentioned that pedestrian bridges will be included in the site design to connect the garage to the west side of the complex.
