The package includes improvements to the local animal shelter, expansion of the county jail and court facilities, the establishment of a new office for the medical examiner, upgrades to parks, and the undertaking of road initiatives to be used in places such as Richardson.
Proposition E alone is a significant part of the proposal. It designates approximately $380m for a range of highway undertakings. This includes finalizing the expansion of Collin County Highway 380, the creation of regional corridor roadways, reconstructing heavily burdened county roads, and the provision of support for the Outer Loop.
Federal funding originally intended for the U.S. 380 highway project may be diverted to regions other than North Texas. TxDOT revised its budget and found that from the original $610m, a portion of $480m could be used on different highway projects.
Proposition A is the second-largest part of the package. It designates about $281m for the advancement of justice facility projects. These include the expansion of the adult detention center, improvements to the court building, provisions for housing for juvenile justice, and the expansion of the Plano Juvenile Probation Office.
