Pasadena to rekindle Turkey tradition

The Turkey Pardon has become a Whitehouse tradition since it first took place back in 1863, and this popular activity will be replicated, albeit on a smaller scale, at a Pasadena area location.

The very first “turkey pardon” took place in Washington back in 1863. This year, The Children’s Museum Houston will be giving Tom Turkey a reprieve. This will be the fourth year that the activity has been offered to the public, and families will be able to meet the bird in person before the event begins.

The turkey will be on hand in the museum's courtyard before the ceremony, and the public will also be able to learn more about these birds. This will be followed by some light-hearted sporting events that will see educators testing their mettle in a variety of competitions. Everyone can sign the petition to keep Tom Turkey alive and kicking, and there will be other activities as well.

Those who would like to be a part of the fun at the Turkey Pardon are asked to book their tickets ahead of time. Festive public events may be made even more fun by choosing to use decor prepared by a banner printing company.

The Children’s Museum Houston has set aside Tuesday, November 23 for this special occasion. It will begin at 10:00 am, and details about site accessibility and its Covid prevention program can be found on the website.
