Pasadena paddlers to enjoy organized outing
Kayaking offers an adventurous way to get some outdoor exercise, and a Pasadena area activity will provide an opportunity to engage in the pastime.
An outing for those who have completed their Level 1 kayaking classes will be offered at Big Island Slough, and it will give them a chance to practice their skills. The paddle will run for about two hours, and the organizers can be reached at (713) 517-2205.
The session will open with a short briefing and safety check, and the group will then take to the water. They can bring their own kayak if they have one, but six will be available on a first come, first served basis. Everyone will need to have a lifejacket, sound and visual signalling devices, and a basic first aid kit. Snacks and water are also recommended.
To help make sure everyone enjoys the session safely, a safety examination of boaters’ personal kayaks can be performed if desired. Identification stickers will be distributed to those who do not already have one.
