Fair for veterans to see in this weekend
The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce has planned a four-hour event with former military members in mind.
San Jacinto College, which can be found at 7901 Fairmont Parkway, will be the venue for the Veteran Resource Fair taking place later this week. A free lunch is on the agenda, and the day will offer opportunities to discover local services and supports.
Along with the meal, there will be information provided about academic resources and scholarships for any vets who decide to further their education. Providers of employment and social supports will have displays set up, and the attendees can find out about local job opportunities. Information about mental issues such as PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) programs for former members and their families will be offered, and the chance to learn about resources for those facing home or food insecurity will round out the event.
This will be the second year in which the resource fair has been held, and prize draws have been scheduled. Many organizations that take part in community events like this choose to hand out business cards, promotional products and other items.
