What's Happening in Pasadena, TX…

Celebration of Black heritage just days away

With the fall now set to begin, the turn of the seasons will be marked by a celebration of Black culture and its influence on today’s society.

For the second year in a row, The Annual Houston Black Heritage Festival will take place on the streets of Downtown Houston. The aim of the celebration is to bring the community together to honor the past and at the same time build toward a better future through inspiring, educational, and entertaining activities.

Last year, the attendance exceeded 8,000, and this year the anticipation is for even greater participation. The festival will feature live musical performances by nationally-acclaimed artists. Also featured will be local artists’ performances in genres of R&B, gospel, hip hop, jazz, and reggae.

Finally, the festival will showcase the demonstrations of celebrity artists, poetry readings, cultural exhibits, and dance. Artists seeking to further promote their talent might benefit from custom business cards that would pass contact information to talent scouts who might attend the festival. The festival is a family-friendly event that emphasizes empowerment, and speakers will discuss topics like education, wellness, health, and economic literacy on a local and national level.

The event will take place next Saturday, September 17 at 1500 McKinney Street in Houston, Texas, just 14 miles northwest of Pasadena. All are welcome to attend.
