Spring is here and that means it is almost time for the Montgomery County Fair.
Kolby Cooper will perform on Friday, April 9 and Kyle Park will take the stage on Saturday, April 10. The Love Street Barbecue Cook-Off will take place over that weekend. Prizes will be awarded not only for the winning cooking entry but for Best Dressed Port-Can, Most Colorful Team, and outhouse race winners. There will also be a cornhole tournament, and horseshoe and washer pitching.
The AG Knowledge Barn Education Exhibit Hall will have an exotic animal petting zoo, pony rides, Breed Row (with cattle, lambs, sheep, and goats), pig races, a tractor pull, and a family game show.
The Cowboy Boot Camp will be an educational and interactive Wild West experience. It will include panning for gold, campouts, lasso and steer roping, cowboy duds, and a grooming, bridle and saddle station.
In AG-Ventureland, Conroe-based little guests can milk a cow, ride pedal tractors, build scarecrows, take eggs to market, play in the bean and corn Boxes, and go fishing.
The Clash of the Counties Team Roping event will take place April 13, the Pet Parade will be April 17, and the fair finale will be the MCFA - El Dia de la Familia Hispania on April 18, starting at noon.
The Country Store will sell original homemade items, many no doubt sporting the sequined county fair Logo Design.
The Montgomery County Fair will be April 9 through 18 at the fairgrounds, located at 9201 Airport Road.
