Montgomery Choral Society will be having its next performance at the end of the month, with the program ‘Letters from Ireland’.
The Conroe concert will feature Irish ballads and melodies played on traditional Irish instruments, recitations of letters written centuries ago, and Celtic dance.
Some melodies that the Society will be singing will be Enya’s ‘May It Be’, John Rutter’s ‘A Gaelic Blessing’, and Celtic Thunder’s ‘Ireland’s Call’ written by Phil Coulter. The ballads and melodies will be played by professional musicians on authentic traditional Emerald Isle instruments such as the penny whistle, uilleann pipes, fiddle, and harp. The audience will be invited to sing along with the old Irish favorites.
Guest readers will be reading old letters written by Irish ancestors as early as the 1700s, and the McTeggarat Irish Dancers of South Texas will be dancing a series of classic Irish choreographies.
Pictures taken during the performance would make interesting subjects for later poster printing, personal Stationery, or Calendars for raising money for the Society.
The concert will be the Society’s final performance of its 45th season. The season has been sponsored by ExxonMobil, and the City of Conroe Council on Arts and Culture.
