Conroe runs and bowls for charity

Two charity events are coming to Conroe this weekend.

The first will begin at 7:40 am tomorrow, September 14 at Heritage Place Park. This will be a family-friendly 10th Annual Woodforest Charity Run. The 10k starts things off at 7:40 am, and that will be followed by the 5k at 8:00 am. The Barkley Shoe Dash will be the last run and it will begin at 9:00 am. Everything should be over by 11:00 am.

Spectators at events such as this often get some banner printing done to show their support for their favorite runners. The event will also have food, music, kids’ activities, and an awards ceremony. Proceeds will go to the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

The other event will be the Strike Out Diabetes Bowling Tournament Fundraiser, which will start at 1:30 pm, also tomorrow, at Time to Spare Entertainment at 13021 Highway 105 E.

Teams of five will compete in three games of nine-pin-no-tap bowling. The event will also have live and silent auctions, raffles and a prize for the team or individual that brings in the most money for the fundraiser.

Bowlers who have sponsors or who raise more than $100 will each receive one prize ticket and an event T-shirt sporting the fundraiser graphic design.

Proceeds from this event will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
