Conroe recognizes local theater talent

This year’s Eighth Annual Montie Awards and Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony will be a glamorous red carpet evening with a live orchestra and the glitz of a Hollywood awards presentation.

This event is to recognize excellent theatrical efforts from members of the community and to showcase stellar work being done all year. Some examples of the vocal talent will be Dave Kerr, Kim Lambright and Kelly Schroeder singing Beauty & the Beast from the musical of the same name, Layne Roberts with I Only Have Eyes for You from 42nd Street, and Austin Colburn performing Santa Fe from the musical Newsies.

This year, the Christian Community Theater is joining Stage Right and the Players Theatre Company with nominees for the Montie awards bringing the number of shows up for nomination to 12. Another new caveat will be the division of the Best Show of the Year award into Best Musical and Best Play.

Winners of such awards usually like to have the pictures of themselves with their trophies taken to local Stationery printers to be made into Copies for relatives.

Both the awards ceremony and the after party come with the purchase of the ceremony tickets. The party will have dancing, live music refreshments and socializing with the Montgomery County’s arts community.

The Montie Awards and Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony will be Saturday, August 10 beginning at 8:00 pm. The Crighton Theater is at 234 North Main Street in Downtown Conroe.
