Conroe readies for two parades

Although the 54th Annual Go Texan Parade and Stampede will not get underway until mid-February, many entries will be getting ready for the event over the next few weeks.

Entries will include vehicles, floats, walking and marching units, and horses. Floats will be judged, which is why many units in parades such as this one use banner printing to introduce themselves to the judges and spectators.

Another parade also sponsored by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will take place in Houston the following week. Traditionally a lively and colorful extravaganza, this event will feature floats, thousands of people on horseback, and marching bands.

This particular parade will be preceded by The Rodeo Run. The 10K wheelchair race will begin at 9:10 am; the 10K timed will begin 10 minutes later; the 5K timed will start at 9:35 am and the untimed 5K runners will line up behind the timed participants at 9:35 am.

The Go Texan Parade 2019 will step off February 16 at 1:00 pm in downtown Conroe at 201 River Pointe Drive. The two-hour parade should wrap up around 3:00 pm. This event will take place rain or shine, with pre-parade activities beginning at 9:30 am.

The Houston Rodeo Parade will be February 23 starting at Walker and Bagby streets, and ending at Bagby and Lamar streets in Houston. It will begin at 10:00 am.
