In a couple of weeks, the 51st Go Texan Parade 2016 will be presented by Conroe/ Willis/The Woodlands & Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Houston Metro Go Texan Committee.
This year’s theme will be ‘School Bells and Rodeo Trails’. The event will also include the Go Texas Stampede 5K Run/Walk.
The Run/Walk will kick things off that morning. Awards will be presented to the three females and males who cross the finish line first. Fees for the Run/Walk will be $30 and registration must be made before February 15.
The parade will once again have horses, floats, and marching/walking units. The floats will be judged and each one will be powered by a pickup or flatbed truck, car, or tractor trailers. Although the new rule may disappoint the children, there will not be anything such as balloons, candy, gum, or Flyers thrown from the vehicles.
Entries can still register before February 15. Commercial entry fees are $50 apiece, while political ones will cost $100 (those current candidates not running for office may enter for free). Fees will be waived for all youths and nonprofits. All entries will want to get their banner printing done as soon as possible to ensure that their promotional material will be ready by parade day.
The parade is scheduled for February 20, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm CST. It will meander through Downtown Conroe. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at Heritage Place Park, 500 Collins Street, Conroe and begin at 9:30 am.
