Lone Star Convention Center will be hosting two school science fairs and an expo at the end of January and beginning of February.
The first event will be the Chevron Philips Chemical Senior High Science Fair, Friday, January 31, 2020 from 7:45am until 11:15am. Students from 9th through 12th grade in the John Cooper School and Conroe ISD have submitted research projects in either physical or life sciences. They will be judged on presentation and content, and prizes will be awarded.
The annual Entergy Junior High Science Fair will take place in the center from 9:30am until 1:00pm and 2:00 until 5:00pm for the seventh and eighth graders.
The Expo will be the following day, February 1, from 10:00am until 4:00pm, a forensic demonstration will discuss fingerprinting and crime solving techniques. A robotics demonstration will feature robotic vehicles built by the students. Math Bowl will be a competition in game show format with teams of middle school and high school students answering questions on statistics, algebra, and the like.
Fifth and sixth graders solve challenges using their science and math skills in the PBKSci.Math.e.Lon. Students will also create documentaries of engineering, mathematical, scientific, or technological concepts using multimedia in SCi.Story.
Winners in contests such as these often have their pictures taken. These photos sometimes go to local Print shops to make Copies for relatives and friends.
