Many of those here in Conroe who enjoy grilled fare will be heading to the 15th Annual Fajita & BBQ Cook-Off coming in early February.
Hosted by the Thin Blue Line Foundation, the event hopes to be a fun-filled cook-off competition with awards for best beef fajitas, brisket, and ribs. There will also be an award given for showmanship based on creativity and presentation, and attendees may vote for their favorites for the People's Choice award. Other non-cooking awards will go to best beans, Bloody Marys, and desserts.
Winners of contests like this are likely to have pictures taken of them holding their awards. These often go to local Print shops for duplicate photos that will proudly hang in their offices, homes, and businesses.
Other activities will include an axe throwing competition; a bike, jeep and car show; cornhole; and live music provided by the Justin Kemp Band. Kids can burn off some energy in a bounce house.
For those not able to attend, there will be a drive-through option from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm where BBQ sack lunches may be purchases for one for $15, or two for $25.
Tickets to the event will be $10 if pre-purchased online and $15 at the event. Active military and veterans along with first responders will get 50% discounts.
The cook-off will take place Saturday, February 1 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Icehouse Conroe, 1355 N Loop 336 E.
