Conroe will again bring in the holiday season with its three traditional events.
The Toby Powell Conroe Christmas Celebration will begin December 1 with the lighting of the giant Christmas tree at Heritage Place at 500 Collins Street, seasonal music, and the unveiling of the light displays. Festivities will begin at 6:00 pm and go until 8:00 pm.
The Christmas Celebration Festival in Downtown Conroe, which is coming on Saturday, December 12 from 11:00 pm to 4:00 pm, will have many holiday festivities. There will be two hills of real snow, a petting zoo, pony, train and camel rides, a nativity scene, and face painting. Admission will be free.
At 1:00 pm that afternoon, the Conroe Friendly City Kiwanis Club will present its 42nd Annual Children’s Christmas Parade. This year’s theme will be “A Blessed Christmas.” Spectators will see school bands, dance and drill teams, cheerleaders, drum and bugle corps and plenty of floats. Santa will come at the close of the parade to hail in the Christmas season.
First, second, and third place awards will be given in four divisions – commercial, nonprofit, schools, and political. The awards will be determined right before the parade starts.
Units that march and perform in parades like this sometimes like to get special banner printing done, with seasonal colors and holiday emblems to introduce themselves to the spectators.
