The 8th Annual Jeanine McMinn Memorial Barrel Race will be coming to Conroe in late September.
The two-day event will be a community outreach experience, competition, and a fundraiser for the Jeanine McMinn Memorial Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded annually to graduating seniors who are currently active in equestrian events and rodeo.
Scholarship winners often take pictures of themselves receiving their money or Checks to local printing services to be added to family newsletters.
Barrel Racing participants are divided into divisions according to their times. Those with the fastest times compete in the 1D competition and four subsequent divisions are divided by 0.5 second increments.
Exhibitions (practice runs) on opening day will run from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with a break from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm before they continue from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Admission to each session will be $5. A warmup race will begin at 7:30 pm. Other races will be a 3D Youth, 2D Future Champs for kids eight years old and younger, and a senior and adult incentive run.
On the second day, registration will begin at 7:00 am and exhibitions will be open from 7:30 am to 10:00 am. Races will start at 10:30 am.
The event will take place Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20 at the Lonestar Convection & Expo Center, 9055 Airport Road.
