Fans of the “fastest game on Earth” will get to see their local team in action this holiday season, as the Greenville Swamp Rabbits begin their 2020-2021 hockey season.
The Swamp Rabbits will take on the Florida Everblades in the season home opener, which will launch the team’s new season in the South Division of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
Besides the game, it will also be Heroes of the Upstate Night. The team has been asking residents to nominate someone in the community who has gone above and beyond to help others. The winners will be recognized in a special ceremony.
The team is hoping to resume its winning ways this season. Last season, the Swamp Rabbits were on track to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017, in third place in their division. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced the cancellation of the season.
The Swamp Rabbits are the second ECHL team in Greenville. The Grrrowl called Greenville home from 1998 until 2006. The Swamp Rabbits have been playing in Greenville since 2010, and are affiliated with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Sporting events such as home openers are a great opportunity for sponsors to give away Promotional Products to fans.
The home opener is scheduled for Friday, December 18 at 7:00 pm at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville. Tickets are $10, with proceeds going to local charities. Tickets and the team’s schedule are available on the team’s website.
