A production starting in mid-February is bringing together a set of beloved children’s characters and the creativity of local theater for a Greenville audience.
Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are In A Play!” is based on the work of author Mo Willems, who also wrote the lyrics and script of the show. The music was composed by Deborah Wicks La Pluma. The local production will be directed by Peggy Trecker White, with talent coming from South Carolina Children’s Theatre.
The story sees Gerald and Piggie heading to a party to which they were invited by The Squirrelles. Gerald is a little nervous about the chance of a disagreement between him and his best buddy, but Piggie is full of excitement and joy. The show is best suited for children who are either in preschool or in elementary school.
There are six performances in February, with four more following in early March. Tickets cost $22 across all dates and seats, with the exception of a “pay what you can” show at 4:30 pm on February 22. Flyer printing is a popular promotion technique for theater events.
The other shows are at 10:30 am on February 22, February 28, and March 7, and at 2:00 pm on February 21, February 22, February 28, March 1, March 7, and March 8. The venue is Greenville’s Bell Stage.
