The Children’s Museum of the Upstate in Greenville will be hosting several special events for children this weekend. Most likely the Museum is turning to flyer printing and poster printing to let families in the area become aware of these goings-on so they can bring their children to participate in them.
This evening, there will a Scouts night at the Museum. Among the offerings will be special exhibits and opportunities for scouts to earn a belt loop or badge.
Cub Scouts will be able to work towards their science belt loop. The Museum’s resident scientist, Roddey, will be available to help with experiments that include creating static electricity by rubbing two balloons together, comparing the density of objects in water, and finding out what happens when sweets are put into cola. Cub Scouts will also learn the scientific method.
Brownies will be able to work towards their home scientist badge, and are free to participate in the same experiments as the Cub Scouts. All participating Cub Scouts and Brownies will need to wear their uniforms.
More special events are planned for Saturday, too. At 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, there will be a Cinco de Mayo cooking class where children of five years of age and older will make some treats of the season and learn about Mexican culture.
