S.C. largest health system to set up H.Q. in Greenville

Prisma Health, the product of the merger of Greenville Health Systems and Palmetto Health, has chosen Greenville as the location for its corporate headquarters.

Former CEOs of Greenville Health and Palmetto Health Systems, Michael C. Riordan and Charles D. Beaman Jr. respectively, will step down as soon as a new CEO for Prisma is named. A nationwide search is underway for Prisma’s new chief executive.

Greenville and Palmetto merged to create South Carolina’s largest health system with 13 hospitals in November 2017. The resulting company, Prisma, serves about a quarter of the state’s population and has over 30,000 employees.

To improve collaboration, communication, and decision making, as well as reduce travel time and expenses it was decided to have all the senior corporate leaders in one place. Greenville was chosen as the executive home office for the whole Prisma system.

New Letterheads are just one of the many points to attend to when companies merge or change locations.

Palmetto Health System was created by the merger in 1998 of Baptist Healthcare System and Richland Memorial Hospital. When Palmetto was formed, a “super board” was created making the newly formed health system top heavy. Following this, Greenville has been described as an effective health care system.

The new headquarters is anticipated to be set up this summer. Prisma is expected to have a net revenue of $3.9bnper year and will be South Carolina’s largest private employer
