One of the state's largest and most popular runs, the 2020 edition of the Greenville News Run Downtown 5K promises the tradition will continue.
Runners have been taking to the streets of Greenville as part of this run for 41 years. It is the official opening of the 2020 running season for the Greenville Track Club.
The route begins at Soby's Restaurant at 207 South Main Street, and winds its way through the streets of downtown Greenville to end at the Greenville News building, where there will be an after-race event.
Registration is $30 for adults and free for children. The fee goes up in $5 increments on January 1, and then again on race day. The event is open to people of all ages and abilities.
Registered runners can pick up their registration packages on Friday, January 17 between 11 am and 6:00 pm at Academy Sports on Woodruff Road.
Print shops can be of great use for runs such as these, with branded start and finish lines.
The 42nd annual Greenville News Run Downtown 5K takes place Saturday, January 18 at 9 am at the Greenville News building, 305 South Main Street. There is a last-minute chance to register for the run at 7:00 a.m. The kids run starts at 9:45 a.m.
