General Electric Power has recently opened a new Advanced Manufacturing Works facility in Greenville.
The new facility, which is 125,000 square feet in size and cost the company $73 million to build, will be involved in additive manufacturing as well as automation, advanced software, robotics and other technologies that will help GE become a leader in digital manufacturing. It will also be involved in developing new, high-tech manufacturing and prototyping methods for the energy businesses of the company.
According to the President and CEO of GE Power, Steve Bolze, this facility will mark a turning point for company and the industry by igniting the digital industrial revolution. The goal is to develop a skilled workforce and culture that can develop innovations to increase growth, improve productivity and deliver faster products to customers.
The facility is located on the company’s existing manufacturing campus in Greenville. GE plans to invest an additional $327 million over the next few years in Greenville, which will result in the creation of at least 80 new manufacturing and engineering jobs. Many of these new employees will most likely require business card printing to help the company spread the word about the expanding campus.
According to Kurt Goodwin, General Manager of the facility, it was also designed to be environmentally friendly, using such features as smart controls, LED industrial lights and low transmission glass.
